American Chestnut Project (ACP)
The new Castanea dentata x mollissima hybrid from the American Chestnut Foundation is the subject of a new study on demographic rates here at the Duke Forest and the southern Appalachians. This 15/16 American chestnut hybrid (dentata x mollissima followed by three back-crosses) will be 50% blight resistant. They were started in containers on 7/26/2023 for outplanting in 2024.
