Emily studied Environmental Science and Earth and Ocean Sciences with a concentration in Marine Conservation at Duke University. During her semester working with the Basurto Lab, she databased, edited, and helped with the preliminary analysis of surveys conducted with fishermen operating in Baja California. The goal of this work was to determine how marine protected areas affect and are perceived by local fishing communities.
