Welcome to the seventh ePack!
Hello New Students,
ePack #7 will likely be the last ePack of the summer. I hope you have found the ePacks helpful and informative as you navigated preparing for the start of the school year. We are so excited to have you on campus next week, and we look forward to welcoming you to the Nicholas School community.
Orientation starts on Monday, August 18. New students are expected to attend and participate fully in Orientation. Check out the schedule of events!
If you missed one of the earlier ePacks or want to view it again, ePacks are available on the Onboarding Resources site.
See you next week!

ADVISOR ASSIGNMENTS
By now, you should have your academic advisor assignment letter. This letter includes your advisor’s name and contact information. You can also find your advisor’s name in DukeHub under the Academics tab. We sent the letter to your Duke email through Duke Box. NetID login is required to access Duke Box. Your advisor is here to help you get started, so feel free to reach out and introduce yourself once you’ve reviewed your letter.
Academic advisors will schedule individual appointments, small group meetings, or office hours with their advisees. Meetings with advisors can center on course planning, but are not limited to this topic. Students are encouraged to use the time with their advisor to discuss their overall academic and professional goals, ask questions about interdisciplinary opportunities, and discuss any lingering concerns they might have before the semester begins.
At the beginning of Orientation, faculty Program Chairs will hold group academic advising meetings by Concentration. View additional information about academic advising.
ORIENTATION CHAMPIONS
We have divided the incoming class into small groups led by an Orientation Champion (i.e., a second-year student) to encourage broader engagement beyond your academic and professional interests. Orientation Champions will soon contact their groups to schedule a virtual welcome and an in-person meet-up the weekend before Orientation begins (August 16-17). Look out for a ʻwelcome messageʼ from your Orientation Champion later this week.
Meet Your Orientation Champions!

GO PASS

All Duke students can receive unlimited free rides on GoTriangle buses by enrolling in the GoPass program sponsored by Duke Parking & Transportation Services. Eligible users must have a Duke NetID and Duke email address that ends in duke.edu to qualify for the free GoPass program.
No-cost access to the GoPass program is part of Duke’s array of alternative transportation resources, including resources for carpooling and vanpools, aimed at alleviating parking demands around Duke and creating a more sustainable campus. For additional information, check out the announcement in the Duke Today article.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Gentle Reminder: All F-1 students are required to register with the Duke Visa Services Office (DVS) before the start of classes. Due to the large number of students reporting for registration and the time required to complete the registration process, the Duke Visa Services Office has created an electronic registration process. To access the F-1 E-Registration, log in with your Duke NetID and password. Questions should be sent to visahelp@duke.edu.
