Concentration Change Requests

Students starting in the fall semester can request a change in their Concentration before classes begin. The deadline to request a change in Concentration for the summer is June 15. The faculty program chair will decide whether to approve or deny each request. When submitting the form, students must provide a reason for the change, highlighting the academic and career benefits.

Students must indicate whether they have completed or intend to complete the necessary prerequisites for the Concentration they want to switch to. It’s important to note that students cannot start in the fall semester with more than one missing prerequisite. Priority will be given to students who have already fulfilled the prerequisite requirements for the Concentration they wish to switch to, although other factors may also be considered.

Students requesting a change in their Concentration by the June 15 deadline will receive a decision by the week of July 15.

Add the MEM or MF Degree

Students interested in adding the Master of Forestry or Master of Environmental Management degree may do so before or after starting their studies. The deadline to add the MF or MEM degree for the summer term is June 15. The faculty program chair will determine approvals or denials. When submitting the form, students must provide a reason for adding the Nicholas School degree and are encouraged to highlight the academic and career benefits.

Students must indicate whether they have completed or intend to complete the necessary prerequisites. Please note that students may only start in the fall term with no more than one required prerequisite deficiency. Priority will be given to students who have already fulfilled the prerequisite requirements, although other factors may also be considered.

Changes or Adds During the School Year

Incoming students can request a change their Concentration or MEM/MF degree add during Orientation and up until the end of the first year of enrollment. Enrolled students must complete a different form once the school year begins. The faculty program chair determines approvals or denials. In some, but not all cases, a new academic advisor will be assigned to the student.
