Tess Leuthner, Superfund Center trainee with Project 3, spoke at the Duke University Superfund Center Community Advisory Board’s annual meeting on July 17, 2020.
Her talk, “What are the long term effects of persistent, low-level exposures of chemical on DNA?”, focused on Tess’s ongoing research on how various environmental pollutants can impact DNA, and mitochondrial DNA specifically. Tess incorporates analysis of multiple animal model specifies with the goal of tying mitochondrial DNA mutational signatures to certain chemical exposures of importance to human health.
