Description: A presentation of data on the role of environmental pollutants on intestinal inflammation and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), discussing the molecular epidemiology of IBD, and implications for IBD prevention

About the speaker: Manasi Agrawal, MD, MS, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a gastroenterologist at the Mount Sinai Hospital, with focus in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Dr. Agrawal completed IBD fellowship at Mount Sinai and Masters in Biostatistics at Columbia University, Mailman School of Public Health, New York. She is also enrolled in PhD in Clinical Epidemiology at the Center for Molecular Prediction of IBD, Aalborg University, Copenhagen, Denmark. 

Dr. Agrawal is a clinician researcher, specializing in the care of patients with IBD at the Susan and Leonard Feinstein IBD Clinical Center, Mount Sinai, New York. Her research is in molecular epidemiology, pertaining to IBD prediction and prevention, with particular focus on environmental risk factors. 

Dr. Agrawal is supported by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases K23 Career Development Award, the International Organization for the Study of IBD, The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, American College of Gastroenterology, European Crohn’s and Colitis Organization, Helmsley Charitable Trust, among others. Dr. Agrawal is passionate about equity in healthcare and in academia.
