Avner Vengosh provides scientific testimony to EPA in support of proposed coal ash disposal rule change

In May 2023, The U.S. EPA proposed an amendment to its 2015 Coal Ash rule that would include restrictions on most “legacy” coal ask landfill sites that already apply to active landfill sites. Avner Vengosh, whose lab has extensively studied coal ash contamination,  provided testimony to EPA in support of the proposed rule change. Dr. Vengosh was also quoted in a Grist article summarizing the rule change and the problems with coal ash contamination and exposure.
