SAVANNAH J. VOLKOFF
B.A. Environmental Sustainability and Social Justice
San Francisco State University, CA
After graduating from SF State in May 2013, I made the move to Durham to participate in a summer internship in the Research Translation Core (RTC) of the Duke Superfund Research Center. My internship turned into a full time job and I’ve continued my research translation work with the RTC, started an independent research project in Dr. Di Giulio’s laboratory, and assisted with administrative tasks for the Integrated Toxicology and Environmental Health Program at Duke.
My experiences in the Di Giulio lab have encouraged me to pursue a higher degree in the environmental sciences. I am currently applying to doctoral programs to study microbial interactions with organic contaminants.
