Haipeng is thrilled to join Dr. Cassar’s lab at Duke University in summer of 2023 after he graduates with a PhD degree in Spatial and Earth Sciences from Indiana State University. He received his bachelor’s degree in Survey Engineering from Hohai University, China. For his PhD, he used ocean color data to study the climatic causes of phytoplankton phenology in high-latitude oceans. His current research interests include climate impacts on ocean ecosystem, phytoplankton community productivity and Bayesian Inference techniques to process geophysical datasets.

Haipeng grew up in Shanghai, China. He enjoys listening to folk music, reading science fiction novels and manga, and playing basketball.
