Heather Returns from Arctic Aerial Surveys

We’re happy to welcome Heather back from conducting aerial surveys for bowhead whales and other marine mammals in northwestern Alaska. She was part of the Aerial Surveys of Arctic Marine Mammals survey team, co-ordinated by the National Marine Mammal Laboratory (NMML). In addition to bowheads, they recorded sightings of gray, humpback and minke whales, belugas and narwhals. And she brought back some gorgeous native Alaskan handiwork made out of bowhead whale baleen. After a brief acclimation to the heat and humidity, she’s off to Jacksonville with Zach and Lynne to service our HARP and conduct offshore surveys.
