Johnson Lab wins coveted Iron Chef award

Summoning deep creativity and mad culinary skills, the Johnson Lab team won the inaugural ‘Iron Chef’ competition by preparing 4 dishes with the secret ingredients.  Deep-dish eggplant pizza (shaped like melting ice sheets), chocolate almond torte, watermelon canapes (in the form of various phytoplankton, of course), and ‘global warming’ curry highlighted the featured ingredients including eggplant, chocolate, watermelon and lime leaves, respectively.  Said one team member, “it was touch and go there for a while, but we came together, worked hard, and dominated the competition!” and subsequently raised her glass for a cheer. Celebrity judge, Jim Hench, remarked “the creativity here is amazing!” The trophy remains displayed in the lab, until next year’s competition (or we are invited to the White House).
