Maria de Oca, a second year PhD student in the group, attended the BD Influx Flow Cytometer Operator Course at the BD headquarters in San Jose, CA. There she refined her flow cytometry skills including instrument optimization and quality control, single cell sorting and data acquisition and analysis. She will be applying these skills to our ongoing research on the research on Prochlorococcus’ activity, diversity and ecology.
