On a beautiful Spring day, the Johnson Lab welcomed alumni, town visitors and many others for the official opening ceremony of the Pilkey Research Building. The new building, the first research laboratory at the Duke Marine Lab in over 50 years, is a state-of-the-art facility that embraces the beauty of its surroundings while providing modern research and educational facilities for marine molecular biology research. The laboratories are designed to encourage openness and flow of resources and ideas. The common areas provide exceptional opportunities for students to work in teams or simply be inspired by their surroundings. A large thanks to all who worked hard to make this building a reality.
