ZIJ presents at DOE Algae Biomass Consortium

The rocky mountains presented a serene backdrop for a meeting of the DOE-sponsored Algae Biomass Consortium held in Golden, Colorado. The Consortium, consisting of university and industry partners, has the goal of developing marine microalgae (phytoplankton) as a source of biofuels and other valuable co-products including protein for animal feed.  ZIJ presented results from our team that has focused on improving desirable characteristics (e.g. oil content) of the microalgae through classical husbandry techniques as well as results from detailed physiological analysis that have helped to inform the production of microalgae at the commercial scale.
