As we first shared in our October newsletter, Jeffrey Vincent, the Clarence F. Korstian Professor of Forest Economics and Management and a member of the Nicholas School faculty since 2007, stepped up to the plate as interim dean after Alan Townsend took a leave of absence for personal reasons in August.
In November, after Dean Townsend officially resigned from Duke to return with his family to Colorado, Duke President Richard Brodhead and Provost Sally Kornbluth announced that Jeff Vincent has agreed to lead the school until a dean search is completed in late 2017. Vincent’s permanent appointment as interim dean, his familiarity with the school and his strong working relationships with his fellow faculty, staff and students, ensures that the Nicholas School will continue its upward trajectory unabated.
“Jeff has been very generous in stepping up to take on the role of interim dean and already has moved ahead on strategic planning that will lay a solid foundation for the school going forward and for the next dean,” Kornbluth stated in the official announcement.
