Although progress is being made to safeguard our planet and precious natural resources, we still have a long way to go. That’s why we need informed and skilled leaders who can advance the solutions we so urgently need to protect our environment, health, and the well-being of future generations.
Whether you’re providing unrestricted support through the Nicholas School Annual Fund or endowing a professorship or program, you are making possible the programs, learning opportunities, and inspiring experiences that will turn today’s students into tomorrow’s changemakers.
See below for some of our recent giving priorities, and visit the Giving section on the Nicholas School website to learn more about the impact your gift can make!
Nicholas School Board Member Jim Fuechsel T’76 sat down with us to discuss his motivation for making a legacy gift to the school. He shares what inspired him to take this meaningful step, as well as the lasting impact he hopes his gift will have on future generations of environmental leaders.
Business & Environment

The Nicholas School’s Business & Environment Program prepares future leaders to move environmental solutions from concept to reality. By leveraging its deep environmental expertise, as well as partnerships across the university, the school is able to evaluate new ideas, provide high-touch support, and help launch new enterprises that can make a profit while benefiting people and the planet.
Undergraduate Research Scholars

Now, more than ever, we need to prepare our best and brightest students to face pressing environmental issues head-on. The Undergraduate Research Scholars Program provides Duke undergrads with faculty-mentored hands-on research experience to give them the tools, knowledge, experience, and confidence they need to make a real difference in our world.
