A Duke Climate Collaboration Symposium

January 27-28, 2026

This symposium will bring together academic researchers, industry leaders, and entrepreneurial partners to explore how Duke’s growing strengths in climate technology can translate into real-world solutions through research commercialization and cross-sector collaboration.

 

Topics to be explored include:

·       Innovation and partnerships across the Blue Economy and marine-based technologies

·       Advances in the energy transition and sustainable infrastructure

·       Climate-conscious design in the built environment

·       Materials science for carbon reduction and resource efficiency

·       Climate and health connections driving sustainable well-being

·       Opportunities in climate AI and data-driven solutions

 

Event Overview:

Tuesday, January 27 (5:30 – 7:30 p.m.) – Public Showcase and Reception

·       5:30 – 6:30 p.m. – Lightning Talks in Geneen Auditorium
Hear from five Duke experts as they present emerging climate tech research and discuss pathways to commercialization and industry partnership.

·       6:30 – 7:30 p.m. – Reception and Company Expo in the Kirby Winter Garden
Connect with faculty innovators, students, and industry professionals to exchange ideas and explore collaboration opportunities.

Wednesday, January 28 (9 a.m.–3 p.m.) – Invitation-Only Workshop

Designed for Duke researchers and key stakeholders, this workshop will explore commercialization strategies, best practices for industry partnerships, and available university resources. The agenda includes panel discussions, breakout groups, and a networking lunch.
