The newly rebranded Duke Sustainability Board conducted our second summit meeting over lunch on the 10th of November. We hosted representatives from the Duke Water Network, Green Roof and Orchard Workforce (GROW), Duke Green Devils East, Duke Green Devils West, the Biology Department, the Graduate and Professional Student Council, Duke Smart Home, Nicholas School Energy Club, the Fuqua Energy Club, the Pratt School Energy Club, and Duke Student Government.
Rebecca Hoeffler, the Sustainable Duke program coordinator, gave an overview of the voluntary, opt-in, campus-wide certification program. This top-down policy will help Duke on its journey to carbon neutrality. There will be an interest meeting the week after Thanksgiving. An analysis of the current checklist items will be conducted during this meeting.
On November 21st, Sustainable Duke will be hosting a tour of the basement of Environment Hall at 11am. Contact members of the Duke Sustainability Board for information.
