Just a few weeks later, they spent a Saturday afternoon volunteering at the Carolina Tiger Rescue center in Pittsboro, NC!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3522\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3522\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.nicholas.duke.edu\/odar\/files\/2018\/05\/lemur-center-CTR-center.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3522 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.nicholas.duke.edu\/odar\/files\/2018\/05\/lemur-center-CTR-center-1024x310.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"310\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.nicholas.duke.edu\/odar\/files\/2018\/05\/lemur-center-CTR-center-1024x310.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sites.nicholas.duke.edu\/odar\/files\/2018\/05\/lemur-center-CTR-center-300x91.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sites.nicholas.duke.edu\/odar\/files\/2018\/05\/lemur-center-CTR-center-768x233.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3522\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(left) following lemur tracks at the lemur center; (right) doing tiger impressions at Carolina Tiger Rescue<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On November 10th, DCS students participated in a local &#8220;mini&#8221; career trek, during which students visited and met with industry professionals at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.triangleland.org\/\">Triangle Land Conservancy<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservationfund.org\/\">Conservation Fund<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Reaching New Ground<\/h3>\n<p>In January, the student group took their first ever &#8220;official&#8221; career trek when they traveled to Washington, D.C. to visit some of the world\u2019s top conservation organizations. Getting to see the \u201creal-world\u201d scenario of what it\u2019s actually like out there and what we\u2019re striving for is really awesome.
