An Update from the Nicholas School Office of Development and Alumni Relations

Dear Alumni and Friends,

I wanted to take a moment to share with all of you some exciting news about the renaming of department and recent additions to our team.

Effective immediately, the Office of External Affairs will now be known as the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. We think this simple name change makes much more sense since it more accurately describes what we do in support of the school and our alumni.

Along those lines, we are thrilled to announce that GLENDA LEE will be joining the Office of Development and Alumni Relations as our new Assistant Director of Alumni Relations. For the past 12 years, Glenda has been an instrumental and outstanding team member in the NSOE Career Services department. During this time she has developed deep and meaningful relationships with NSOE and Duke alumni across the country and world. By accepting this new role, Glenda will help to lead and coordinate engagement with alumni through new programming initiatives and leveraging resources and opportunities from across the school and university. Additionally, Glenda will also oversee and work closely with the Nicholas School Alumni Council, our dedicated alumni volunteers and partners focused on continually improving and enhancing alumni engagement.

MEREDITH (MAFFETT) TAYLOR has now accepted the role of Assistant Director of Annual Giving and will focus her energies on expanding and enhancing efforts to help grow awareness and support for the Nicholas School’s Annual Fund. Meredith will gradually ease out of her current role overseeing the Alumni Council and will help with Glenda’s on-boarding and transition into her new role.

ANGELA HULL, who joined the team in January as our new Communication Coordinator, will be assisting with coordination of the school’s advancement services, stewardship and alumni communications. We are delighted to welcome her to the Nicholas School family.

MIKE GULLEY remains our Associate Director of Major Gift Initiatives and also oversees special fundraising projects. ANN THURSTON remains our Associate Director of Development Services and oversees all gift coding, reporting, stewardship, prospect management, communications to alumni and works closely with our Business Office on financial matters. ROBIN GELLER remains our Development Projects Coordinator, working closely with the Board of Visitors, supporting me, handling multiple departmental needs and priorities, and is our department resource manager.
We look forward to working with you and if you have any ideas on how we can work better together, please feel free to reach out to me.

Best,
Kevin McCarthy
Associate Dean, Office of Development and Alumni Relations
