The Class of 2019 Steps Up to Support the Annual Fund

The Class of 2019 has stepped up to support the Nicholas School’s Annual Fund with the first Class Gift Campaign. They have a goal of $2,500, and alumna Maggie Peloso, BS’05 MEM’06 PhD’10, has agreed to match every dollar they raise up to the goal, which could double the amount to $5,000.

“The purpose of the class gift is to unite as a class and to demonstrate a unified commitment to the future of the Nicholas School,” said Reed Perry, a member of the Class Gift Campaign committee. “We are the largest class accepted into the program, and with a new building and a new dean, we believe the program has reached an inflection point. There is a growing need for informed and effective environmental leadership, the challenges to the environment are increasingly complex, and the resources to address these challenges are scarce. We believe that the Nicholas School is training leaders to meet this need and to solve the environmental challenges of today and those of tomorrow. We hope that our class gift helps to spark a new level of commitment for the Nicholas School among students, alumni, and donors alike.”

The Nicholas School Annual Fund supports financial aid for students, faculty research, student trips for research and career development, educational technology and tools, curriculum development, and much more. The Annual Fund provides critical and flexible support throughout the school.

This year, the goal for the Annual Fund is $1.252 million, and the deadline to reach that goal is June 30.

Gifts of every amount support our goal!

10 gifts of $100 covers the cost for a student to attend a major professional conference.

5 gifts of $500 will bring in a guest speaker to student groups that will enrich the Nicholas School experience for all students.

And if all 4,000 of our alumni gave just $10, we could fully fund the cost of a Nicholas School education for one student. Imagine the impact you could make by doubling that to what you would pay for the cost of a streaming service each month!

Help us reach our goal for the Annual Fund by giving what you can, and help support important environmental research and the education of the environmental leaders of tomorrow!
