Being successful in your career depends on a lot of factors.  Here at the Nicholas School, we put communication high on that list.  Today’s environmental professional needs to communicate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and the public.  Knowing how to craft a succinct, compelling memo is an essential communications tool. Here, Dr. Nicki Cagle, Lecturer and Director of the NSOE Communications Studio makes memo writing easy with her step by step explanation.

It is next to impossible to solve a problem you don’t understand.  In this clip, Dr. Jesko von Windheim, Professor of the Practice of Environmental Innovation and Entrepreneurship, discusses the 4-forces analytical framework: a tool developed to describe the societal forces that shape issues.  This framework can be used to develop a deep understanding of environmental issues.  The 4-forces framework (developed by Martin Doyle and von Windheim) is adapted from the Porter five forces model used in business.
