Each month, we toast the accomplishments of our students, faculty, and staff, no matter how big or small. Here are our department’s New Year accomplishments:
Alex George, 4th year PhD student, received a very strong score on his F31 grant submission.
Aliyah Webster, 2nd year ITEHP student, and Javier Huayta, PhD, post-doc in the Meyer lab, filmed an interview video with the Duke University Superfund Research Center’s Community Engagement Core (CEC). The video, which will be linked to a QR code in the board game the CEC created called, “Resilience” is about life as a scientist.
Alyssa Wicks, PhD, ITEHP post-doc, has begun recruiting participants for one of her studies.
Cameron Rankin, 3rd year PhD student, and Olivia Kline, 1st year PhD student, had their abstracts accepted for this year’s Society of Toxicology Annual Meeting.
Chelsea Hughes, PhD, ITEHP post-doc, won 2nd place in an online poster competition (one she didn’t know she was in! Yay for happy accidents!)
Sam Phelps, 3rd year ITEHP student, submitted her prelim document!
Sierra Smith, 2nd year PhD student, presented a 3-minute lightning talk at Duke’s Climate and Health “Big Ideas” symposium (Climate and Health “Big Idea” Symposium | Duke University School of Medicine) as part of the second round of a competitive internal grant pitch.
Congratulations, everyone, on your accomplishments!
