In March, several students, staff, and faculty from the Integrated Toxicology and Environmental Health Program (ITEHP) attended the annual Society of Toxicology (SOT) meeting.
Platform Presentations
ITEHP was well represented in the platform sessions by:
- Ilaria Merutka, PhD candidate — “Subcellular Mechanisms of Renal Dysfunction Induced by Chronic Exposure to Glyphosate and Nephrotoxic Metals”
- Emily Green, PhD candidate — “Embryogenesis and Beyond: Microbial Impacts on Host Development and Xenobiotic Responses”

Poster Presentations
ITEHP trainees and faculty also presented posters highlighting their research:
- Laura Jameson, PhD candidate — “Differential Susceptibility of Neuron Subpopulations to Redox Cyclers and Uncouplers in C. elegans”
- Tenley Weil, PhD candidate — “Interindividual Variability in Responses of Primary Human Airway Epithelial Cells to In Vitro Ozone Exposure”
- Javier Huayta, postdoctoral fellow — “Inhibition of Mitochondrial Complex III in Caenorhabditis elegans Leads to Dopaminergic-specific Neurodegeneration”
- Ed Levin, PhD, ITEHP faculty member — “Persisting Neurobehavioral Consequences of Early Developmental Exposure to Low-Level Lead and Fluoranthene in Zebrafish”
ITEHP is proud to recognize the outstanding research contributions of its community at this year’s SOT meeting.
