The Nicholas School Energy Club (NSEC) is a student-led organization that provides an informal setting for all students to learn about current and emerging energy trends through networking events, speaker series, career treks, and workshops.

Our mission is to create an inclusive and dynamic hub for students to connect with each other, industry leaders, and Duke’s many resources.

We educate Nicholas School students and the broader Duke community about cutting-edge energy issues and provide professional development opportunities through networking events, career treks, socials, and conferences. We coordinate our activities with the Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment, and Sustainability and other energy clubs on campus including the Duke MBA Energy Club, the Sanford Energy and Environment Club, and the Pratt MEMP Energy Club to promote cross-school collaboration.

Since its inception in 2009, the Nicholas School Energy Club has helped shape the structure and content of the Energy & Environment concentration. For example, the Energy Club pioneered the California Renewable Energy Field Trip. We also provide an important opportunity for Nicholas School students in concentrations outside of Energy & Environment to learn about energy, building upon the Nicholas School’s mission to educate professionals with a comprehensive and interdisciplinary knowledge base needed to succeed in today’s environmental workforce.
