Lane Scher is a co-organizer for this-years’ UPE symposium:
We are excited to announce this year’s Ecology symposium, entitled “People and Nature.” The symposium will take place on Saturday, April 18th in the Field Auditorium. Please see the attached flyer for more details.
The symposium’s morning session will explore ethnoecology, place-based research, and the role of cultural lenses in shaping people’s perspectives of the environment. The afternoon session will delve into environmental justice and the different implications of ecological research and policy for various communities. If you would like to attend, please register at the link below.
We are inviting students to submit an abstract for a 15-minute presentation slot or to present a poster. All topics are welcome, but we will give preference to presentations that match the themes of the symposium. Submit an abstract using the link below by March 2.
We are also working with the Office for Interdisciplinary Studies to hire a rapporteur for the symposium. This person will attend a short orientation before the symposium, attend the full event, and produce summaries for the presenters and attendees, and for publication. To apply, please submit a brief paragraph explaining your interest in the position at the link below by March 2.
Register, submit an abstract for a presentation or poster, and submit an application for the rapporteur position using the Google form here.
