This website emerged from a course, Celebrating Diverse Scholars, taught in various departments at Duke University beginning in spring 2021 that was inspired by a similar course taught by Dr. Katie Martin at NC State.
The website is intended for academic scholars and mentors who seek to intentionally diversify their research and teaching through a course. A primary outcome of the course is to better serve our academic communities, our students, and our research collaborators through culturally-responsive research and teaching.
The resources included in this website are intended to be useful both during and after the course as academic scholars and mentors continue to work toward this goal. For academic mentors, we hope to provide ideas to guide mentees in including diverse voices and concepts within their academic networks. For scholars, we hope to encourage and provide initial resources for including diverse voices and concepts within their academic networks.
