Chao Xu

Chao is a visiting student from Xiamen University who joined Cassar’s lab at Duke University in 2023. His research interests include the biological carbon pump and R programming. He focuses on the key processes of the biological carbon pump and how it operates for carbon sequestration, both in the euphotic zone and twilight zone. He uses BGC-Argo floats, ship-based data and satellite data to constrain the main processes of the biological carbon pump.

In his free time, he enjoys calligraphy, Chinese painting, long-distance running, and fishing.
