2018 Summer

Below is the list of summer virtual presentations; however, it is not a comprehensive list. We will continue to update the schedule and notify students in timely manner as additions occur.   


Health Insurance and Immunization Requirements

On Thursday, June 21 from 3:00pm-4:00pm (ET), we are delighted to host the health insurance and immunization requirements session. It will be an opportunity for new students to get their questions answered about these two areas. The virtual presentation will start off with a general overview about both areas then end with a Q&A with the presenters.


Summer Virtual Orientation

On Wednesday, July 18 from 9:30am-10:30am (ET), we are delighted to host our annual live Summer Virtual Orientation. The virtual will be live and recorded for those who are unable to attend. We have arranged for participants in the following departments at the Nicholas School of the EnvironmentCareer and Professional Development, Communications and Marketing, Duke Forest, Duke Marine Laboratory Beaufort, NC, Executive Education, Financial Aid, Information Technology, Office of Development and Alumni Affairs, Student Groups/Affiliations and Student Services


Resume Webinar (Career and Professional Development)

Every year, first-year students submit a resume to the Career & Professional Development Center for an individualized review. During this presentation on Monday, July 23 at 12:00pm, you will receive a detailed checklist and rubric that outlines what employers in the environmental field are seeking in candidates. Resume samples will also be shared, and you will learn about ways to adapt your resume to the field. Not only will this exercise by personally and professionally helpful, but it is a requirement in order to be considered for Conference Funding. Below are the directions to attend the webinar. Not able to attend? This presentation will be recorded and sent at the conclusion of the webinar. Directions for submission will be shared in that email message.


Parking & Transportation Info Session

On Wednesday, July 25 12:00-12:30pm, join the parking and transportation virtual discussion. Get your questions answered about commuter resources, permits (individual and carpool options), local transportation, etc. Please plan to join the virtual presentation.  


Course Registration Session

Join the virtual discussion about course registration in the fall on Friday, July 27. The session will be recorded. If you cannot attend, a similar session will be offered during Orientation. 


Statistics Review Session

The purpose of these review sessions to go over the principles and technical aspects of the subjects. While I can answer general questions regarding the Sakai interface, exam generalities, etc… The main purpose is the subjects at hand.


Library 101/Info Session

On Friday, August 10 at noon (ET), join the virtual discussion about the library resources. Knowing this information before classes get underway will be critical to your success. 


Virtual Office Hours

On Wednesday evening August 22 at 7:00pm (ET), I will hold virtual office hours for fall course registration inquiries. If you have any last minute questions about course registration, please plan to attend the Virtual Office Hours. There will be NO formal presentation. The NSOE registrar will be available to any answer questions and assist with last minute course registration inquiries. Since this is not a formal presentation, the virtual office hours will not be recorded.
