Neural and Behavioral Toxicity Assessment (NBTA) Core
What do we do?
While our research projects are trying to understand how exposures affect health, how can we actually know if a chemical affects brain development and leads to altered behavior and brain function? This is where the NBTA Core comes in! The NBTA Core provides information on the consequences of exposures to chemicals like pesticides, PAH’s, and flame retardants. They’ll determine how these chemicals are toxic to the brain and nervous system by looking at several pathways and biological processes.
Rats and fish exposed to chemicals in Projects 1, 2, 3, and 4 are studied as they perform tests to assess their sensory and motor responses, cognitive function, and emotional function
