Nicholas School turns 25! #NicAt25

25th LOGO

2016 marks the 25th anniversary of the School of the Environment, and we hope you will join us to celebrate! Check out the “Nic at 25” section of our website for details about upcoming events, photos and stories from the past quarter century, and much more. We will also share weekly #throwback photos of life at the Nicholas School on that page and on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts. Share your own memories with the tag, #NicAt25.

In 1991, the convergence of the Duke Marine Laboratory, School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, and Department of Geology set the stage for Duke’s rising reputation as one of the premier institutions for interdisciplinary environmental education, research and real-world impact. This year we celebrate how that historic merger blossomed into a multi-faceted program known globally for preparing graduates for successful careers in a wide range of fields and advancing research that has opened new doors to environmental understanding and stewardship. At the same time, we are charting a path forward to ensure continued leadership and excellence for the next quarter-century and beyond.

This milestone corresponds with the final year of the university-wide Duke Forward fundraising campaign. We hope this special occasion will be a catalyst for friends of the School to consider contributing to the Nicholas School’s greatest need: bolstering much-needed financial aid opportunities for our students.
