Events

NPAC hosts many events throughout the year.

  • Orientation: New PhD student orientation occurs generally the Wednesday of orientation week.  Though not required, incoming first-years are strongly encouraged to attend.  Questions related to orientation can be directed to NPAC’s orientation coordinator.
  • GAS: The Graduate Afternoon Seminar (GAS) is a unique PhD student-run event that actively seeks to bridge disciplines and programs, thereby furthering the School’s mission of integrating the disciplinary diversity of students within the school. The weekly seminar, which has convened regularly for the past decade, consists of a 15-20 minute PhD student presentation and questions, followed by opportunity for social interaction on Friday afternoons.  The timing and location of GAS varies by the semester.  Please contact NPAC’s GAS coordinators with questions.
  • Symposium: The first NSOE PhD student symposium is being planned for September 2017.  Stay tuned for more details!
  • NPAC meetings are open to the public.  To find out when the next meeting is, please contact your program representative.  (See here for past meeting minutes.)

Do you have an idea for an event that would benefit all NSOE PhD students?  Let us know!
