Master’s Project Submission Requirements
Two-Part Final Submission due Friday, April 28, 2017 at 5:00pm EST (NO EXCEPTIONS)
Failure to submit your master’s project, which includes both the electronic upload and a copy of the executive summary (signed by your MP advisor), by the due date and time, will prevent you from graduating in May.
- Part I: All professional students who plan to graduate in May 2017 must upload their final MP in DukeSpace no later than 5:00pm EST on Friday, April 28, 2017. Instructions for uploading the final MP are in the attached document. PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL 4:00 ON THE 28TH TO BEGIN THE UPLOAD PROCESS! If you hit a snag or there is a system delay, if your upload is not complete by 5:00pm ET, the system will cut you off and you will not be able to graduate. Start in plenty of time to complete the upload well in advance of the deadline. The DukeSpace website is open and ready to accept your upload.
- Part II: In addition to the DukeSpace upload, all students who plan to graduate in May 2017 must also submit an electronic copy of their executive summary, signed by their MP advisor, to Melissa Adragna at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 5:00pm on Friday, April 28. - GROUP MPs: Please submit only one executive summary (with the name of all authors/group members) and upload your MP only one time (again, be sure to include the name of all authors/group members). Be sure that the names of all the students in the group are on both documents. All members of the group will be bound by the deadline so make sure that the designated submitter meets the deadline.
The content of the executive summary is the same as in the final report, but the format differs. The title of the project, the author’s name, and the date of submission are essential parts of the heading. It may be typed 1.5 or single spaced and if printed, it must be printed double-sided. There must be a place for the advisor to sign and date the executive summary as approval of completion of the project. The separate executive summary must be submitted to the Student Services office by the April 28 deadline. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the executive summary has been submitted by the deadline. We recommend that you follow up with your advisor if you and your advisor have agreed to an electronic signature and submission.

Prior to uploading your final MP, please run the scan on your MP through iThenticate. You should do this when your MP is as complete as possible in terms of having the majority of the content. The software is very sensitive to many forms of acceptable duplication, so even though it produces a % duplicated, the real test is in scrolling through and looking at what is found (for you and your advisor). The goal is not to get to 0 percent! The software will find all sorts of duplicate material that is not plagiarism nor poor paraphrasing (e.g. citations, long names of organizations, etc).
