About NSEC

The Nicholas School Energy Club (NSEC) educates Nicholas School students and the broader Duke community about energy issues and provides professional development opportunities through networking events, field trips, socials and conferences. We coordinate our activities with the Duke University Energy Initiative and our partner energy clubs at the Fuqua School of Business and the Sanford School of Public Policy. In the 2014-2015 school year, our activities included:

  • Sponsorship of Duke’s Energy Industry Fundamentals Conference and the Duke University Energy Conference
  • Overnight networking trip to Denver, CO where we visited eight firms operating in the energy industry
  • Day trips to the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Organic Transit, and Patriot Biodiesel
  • Triangle Energy Club Social with energy clubs from schools in the Research Triangle Area
  • Co-sponsored lunches and other events with the Duke University Energy Initiative
