Oct 19, 2013 – Composting is here in the LSRC!

On October 19, 2013, in Uncategorized, by zw44@duke.edu

compose - CopyDUGI is excited to announce our new compost bin in the LSRC! Compost your food scraps (meat and dairy included) and napkins in the A-wing student lounge.

We would like to thank the staff at Blue Express, who have graciously let us use their composting service from Brooks Compost. Every weekday, we empty our bin into their big bins and replace the compostable liners in our bin to keep the LSRC clean and bug-free.

In the meantime, DUGI will be working to create closed-loop composting plans for the new Environment Hall so that by next spring, the compost we generate can be used for the garden that will be built there.

If you’re interested in volunteering or finding out more about our composting project, please contact Taichi Natake or Michael Goralczyk.
