DEL just welcomed the Class of 2015 to the DEL-MEM program, and welcomed back the Class of 2014. And in that same breath, it’s time to think about the Class of 2016!

Beyond marketing, recruiting, and application review, identifying the next class of DEL-MEM students allows us to reflect on DEL’s mission and the program’s objectives. While it is an arduous process, the cultivation of each cohort is what truly defines the DEL-MEM program and is a reflection of the Nicholas School’s mission. Each class of DEL-MEM students is carefully crafted to ensure diversity in professional experience, expertise, and leadership capabilities.  Identifying each cohort is akin to putting together a jigsaw puzzle – collecting unique pieces scattered about and bringing them together to help them create their own unique picture of environmental leadership.

jigsawPic-1When collecting the individual pieces of the DEL-MEM cohort puzzle, we look for applicants with:

  • an established background in fields directly related to the environment, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience
  • strong quantitative skills and intellectual ability
  • solid leadership experience or poised to advance to the next level
  • an interest in updating and adding depth to their current skills, with a focus on management and leadership
  • an interest to collaborate, share leadership and professional experiences, and learn from his/her peers
  • the ability and desire to learn and communicate in a non-traditional format, using technology to foster the experience
  • the willingness, above all, to work with peers and faculty toward a common goal of leading the world to a more sustainable future

So, if you are one of those pieces of the puzzle that would like to be part of the bigger DEL-MEM picture, apply online here. Organizations looking to develop their employees and advance their environmental presence, should consider supporting an employee in the DEL-MEM program; the return on the investment is immediate.

Virtual information sessions are a great way to learn more about the program, hear from DEL students and faculty, and experience the online learning format.  Applications are due February 1.
