Nicholas School of the Environment welcomes a new Dean

Toddi Steelman, PhD '96, will return to Duke in July 2018 as Stanback Dean of the Nicholas School of the Environment.

On January 30, 2018, Duke University President Vincent Price and Provost Sally Kornbluth named Dr. Toddi Steelman the next Stanback Dean of the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University. Dr. Steelman will assume the role effective July 1, 2018.  A full article on the announcement is available here.

Dr. Steelman notes, “Science, expertise and evidence-based decision-making are being challenged in all sectors of society. Arguably there has been no other time in history where thoughtful reason and insight are more important, and there is no better platform in the world from which one could lead on these issues than the Nicholas School.”

The Nicholas School community including the Executive Education program welcomes its first female Dean and PhD alumna back to Durham and looks forward to embracing the leadership she will provide in advancing the school’s pursuit of science and society.
