Every Spring, AEI hosts the Experience Africa event (formerly known as the annual goat roast) open to both Duke students and the public. This event brings traditional African dishes to the community, originally inspired by goat roasts from East Africa. There is plenty of music and dancing as well, and everyone gets to learn more about the many different cultures of Africa through a Q&A session with some international Duke students. The event also serves as a fundraiser, with tickets being sold to collect funds for a different African non-profit every year.
